Kayla Elmore Uhl
M.S., CCC-SLP, QOM
Speech-Language Pathology Program Director, Myofunctional Therapist
Kayla Uhl, M.S., CCC-SLP graduated with her bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Appalachian State University. She has clinical experience with children and adults of all ages in preschools, elementary and middle schools, homes, hospitals, and private clinics.
Kayla is one of the lead speech-language pathologists at ACT Therapy Services and is also trained as a myofunctional therapist. She is passionate about supporting children with orofacial myofunctional disorders and helping them achieve functional, lasting outcomes. Kayla's favorite part of being an SLP is uncovering the "why" behind a child's challenges and helping families put the pieces of the puzzle together. She loves that myofunctional therapy allows her to look beyond speech sounds and really address the root of issues like mouth breathing, tongue thrust, or oral structure. Kayla thinks it is amazing to watch how improving oral function can ripple out into better sleep, clearer speech, and improved feeding.
She has lived in Charlotte, NC since she was born. In her free time, you can find her spending time with friends and family, playing with her daughter, hiking, biking, camping, gardening, and reading.
