Speech & Occupational Therapy Services in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Huntersville, NC

Supporting children to improve communication, functional abilities, and regulation in North and South Carolina

ACT Therapy Services is celebrating nine years in business! Thank you for all of your support over the years. We love what we do, and we look forward to continuing to serve you with speech and occupational therapy services!

Evaluation

Your child's journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation designed to help us understand the whole child-not just a diagnosis or area of difficulty.

Before the evaluation, we'll learn about your concerns, your child's history, strengths, interests, daily routines, and the areas that matter most to your family. During the evaluation, your therapist may use standardized assessments, clinical observation, play and interaction, caregiver interview, and other developmentally appropriate tools.

We'll identify your child's strengths, areas where additional support may be helpful, and recommendations for next steps. If therapy is recommended, we'll work with you to develop meaningful goals that support your child at home, at school, and in the community.

Parent Partnership

At ACT Therapy Services, we believe meaningful progress happens when therapy strategies become part of everyday life. Your Family Partnership is designed to give parents and caregivers the tools, education, and confidence to support their child beyond the therapy room.

Depending on your child's needs, your partnership may focus on areas such as myofunctional therapy, AAC, gestalt language processing, sensory regulation, ADHD/executive functioning, or social-emotional development. Families receive individualized guidance to better understand their child, recognize progress, respond to challenges, and use practical strategies within everyday routines.

The goal is not for parents to become the therapist. It is to help you understand the why behind therapy and feel confident supporting your child in ways that are realistic, connected, and sustainable.

Ongoing weekly support

Your child's weekly therapy sessions remain individualized and goal-focused, but support continues beyond the appointment. Your therapist will help connect what is happening in therapy to your child's real life by providing practical strategies, education, and resources you can use at home, school, and in the community.

Family Partnership support may also include therapist strategy calls, messaging for questions between visits, school resources, an in-home or school-based coaching session when appropriate, progress updates, parent community support, and pathway-specific educational resources.

The result: therapy that doesn't stay in the therapy room, but becomes part of the routines, relationships, and environments where your child spends the most time.
